NTU's Involvement in the Road Sub-Sector
With experience in the road sub-sector, NTU is committed to supporting the sustainable development of road transport networks worldwide. Our work enhances connectivity, strengthens trade links, fuels economic growth, and significantly improves road safety.
NTU plays a key role in shaping road transport policies, strengthening institutions, and enhancing governance in the sector. We contribute to the development of road policies, strategies, and operational manuals to improve planning, financing, and sustainability in this sub-sector. We have supported the establishment of road safety secretariats and agencies to ensure effective coordination of national initiatives and action plans. NTU empowers stakeholders at all levels with tailored training and knowledge-sharing programmes. We provide specialised training for government authorities on road transport management, planning, and policy implementation. Sustainable road maintenance is at the core of NTU’s approach, ensuring long-term road usability and safety.
Our expertise extends to the technical and operational aspects of road infrastructure, ensuring safer and more efficient transport systems. Our work includes feasibility studies, master planning, and statistical analyses to optimise traffic flow and improve road network efficiency. We also conduct road safety audits and technical assessments to identify risks and enhance road conditions. By leveraging cutting-edge research and technology, NTU supports evidence-based decision-making in the road sector. Our work includes developing crash databases and observatories for data-driven insights, and providing research-driven solutions for road financing, transport planning, and infrastructure sustainability. Recognising the importance of public engagement, NTU conducts awareness campaigns to promote safer road behaviour and reduce accidents. We facilitate stakeholder engagement programmes that bring together the public and private sectors to drive impactful change.
