NTU in the Research, Innovation & Digitalisation sector 

The field of research, innovation, and digitalisation plays a crucial role in today’s society and economy, driving progress and development across multiple sectors. Digitalisation, in particular, is transforming the way in which complex problems are approached and solutions to them are developed by integrating advanced technologies, artificial intelligence and data analytics. As a result, new opportunities are open for development cooperation across various sectors including education, health, and economics. Digitalisation makes the creation of efficient and resilient systems happen, addressing critical challenges like resource optimisation, energy consumption, and environmental sustainability.  

NTU’s work is aligned with global efforts to drive digital transformation, including supporting initiatives under the Global Gateway strategy, which emphasises inclusive digital connectivity. With over 15 years of experience in this field, NTU collaborates with a diverse range of stakeholders, including governments, development agencies, private enterprises, public institutions, and civil society organisations. Our work spans the entire project lifecycle, from strategic project definition, research, and testing to implementation and operational management. Digitalisation is at the core of this work. NTU prioritises knowledge management, capacity development, and dissemination of best practices to ensure projects are innovative, sustainable, and beneficial for communities while contributing to resilient infrastructure and equitable access to technology. 

Innovation is deeply ingrained in NTU’s DNA. Thanks to the creativity of our people, cutting-edge tools, and robust processes, NTU consistently develops new solutions to multiple problems for the benefit of communities. NTU focuses on internal innovation leading to constant improvement in our work, as well as stand-alone Research and Innovation projects. Our involvement spans a range of initiatives, including collaborations with EIT-Climate KIC, Horizon Europe (and its predecessor programmes FP5, FP6, FP7, Horizon 2020), support to Innovative Fund applications, and the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF). Our experience encompasses all stages of innovation projects:  conceptualisation, research, development, testing, and exploitation.
