Advancing Health and Social Rights through Sustainable Development

NTU in the Social and Health Sectors

NTU is committed to delivering impactful and sustainable solutions that contribute to social equity, health system strengthening (including advancing universal health coverage), and the well-being of communities worldwide.

Our extensive experience since 2007 extends to various areas, including healthcare infrastructure, health financing, social protection systems, gender equality programs, and violence prevention initiatives. NTU has worked alongside governments, international organisations, development agencies, and civil society to implement projects that ensure accessible, equitable, and high-quality services for all, ensuring no one is left behind.

We prioritise capacity building and knowledge management, offering tailored workshops, training, and research dissemination to promote best practices and lessons learned in the social and health sector. Through stakeholder consultations and active collaboration with local partners, we ensure that our projects not only address immediate needs but also lay the foundation for long-term, sustainable impact, fostering inclusive solutions that consider the diverse needs of all individuals, especially girls and women, and vulnerable groups.

By working closely with all relevant stakeholders and promoting collaborative partnerships, NTU ensures that its projects are sustainable and have a lasting positive impact on both local communities and broader societal structures. Our work is designed to address the complex and interconnected challenges facing the social and health sectors, in line with the EU Global Health strategy which aims at delivering better health and well-being of people across the life course. The focus is placed on strengthening health systems, advancing universal health coverage, preventing and combating health threats, including pandemics, and applying a One Health approach. Within the sector, NTU is also dedicated to acting in alignment with the principles of the Global Gateway strategy, for example, in regard to the EU-Africa Global Gateway Investment Health Package focusing on providing support to partner countries in building resilient healthcare systems, improving access to quality health services, and fostering health security.

Through alignment with international frameworks such as the Gender Action Plan (GAP III), NTU strives to create a gender-equal world by supporting partners in addressing gender discrimination. In line with the principles of solidarity, equality, and inclusivity upheld by the EU, we focus on supporting institutions, as well as national, regional, and local authorities, social partners, and civil society. Our goal is to reduce poverty, inequality, and social exclusion while ensuring access to essential services and a dignified standard of living for all citizens.
