NTU’s Involvement in Renewable Energy
With 20 years of experience, NTU is committed to advancing renewable energy (RE) solutions that produce no greenhouse gas emissions, enhance energy access, reduce dependency on fossil fuels, and contribute to sustainable economic development. We play a pivotal role in supporting the global transition towards clean energy systems, addressing both local and regional renewable energy challenges through innovative solutions.
Fossil fuels, while cheap and reliable, are extremely polluting and dangerous to produce. They negatively impact climate change and human health and are finite resources that take a long time to replenish. As a result, the world is experiencing a paradigm shift towards renewable energy. Today, a fifth of the world’s primary energy supply comes from renewable sources, and this is expected to grow as technological innovation, political will, and competitive pricing drive the adoption of clean energy solutions like solar, wind, geothermal, hydrogen, and hydropower.
NTU provides comprehensive technical assistance in the RE sector, including feasibility studies, energy audits, and policy and strategy development. NTU supports the deployment of fossil-free energy solutions across various sectors, including the definition of RE corridors, the establishment of regulatory frameworks, and the promotion of RE through the harmonisation of legislative frameworks. NTU also works with off-grid renewable energy solutions, including the design and implementation of mini-grids, as well as conducting pre-feasibility and feasibility studies for rural electrification projects.
By using data-driven insights and conducting socio-economic and environmental impact assessments, NTU ensures the long-term sustainability of its energy projects. NTU's focus on economic, environmental, and social sustainability helps create resilient and efficient solutions. NTU’s efforts are aligned with the objectives of the European Green Deal, supporting the transition to a low-carbon energy system across Europe and fostering the development of renewable energy solutions in various sectors.
