𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐩 | 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐚𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 (𝐈𝐒𝐂𝐃) – 𝐒𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐦𝐨𝐧 𝐈𝐬𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐬 

As part of the ADB‑funded Transport Sector Institutional Support and Capacity Development (ISCD) project, NTU's expert team met with senior officials from the Ministry of Infrastructure Development (MID) for a technical workshop in Honiara. The ISCD project supports the Government of the Solomon Islands in strengthening institutional frameworks, improving sector governance, and enhancing long‑term management of transport infrastructure.

The workshop focused on three core components of the ISCD recommendations currently under development:
𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐏𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐜 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐬 𝐃𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 (𝐏𝐖𝐃) – Institutional arrangements, mandate, governance structure, and comparative insights from regional practice.
𝐁𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐬𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐬 – Regulatory pathways, institutional responsibilities, and options for phased implementation.
𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐟 𝐦𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 – Maintenance models, operational roles, and coordination options between MID, SIPA, and provincial stakeholders.

ISCD experts presented the draft recommendations and engaged with MID counterparts on the institutional, regulatory, and operational considerations for each component.
