Supporting Sierra Leone in advancing its Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC 3.0) under the EU’s “Green Pact in Sierra Leone” initiative.

NTU International has been awarded a new project under the Framework Contract (FWC) SEA 2023 – Lot 1, titled “Review of the NDC 3.0.” The nine-month assignment supports the Government of Sierra Leone in strengthening its climate commitments and advancing the implementation of its Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) framework.

Project Overview

The assignment contributes to the implementation of the Multiannual Indicative Programme (MIP) and the Team Europe Initiative “Green Pact in Sierra Leone,” which focus on the protection of terrestrial and marine ecosystems and biodiversity.

Through this project, NTU will assist national authorities in reviewing Sierra Leone’s NDC 2.0 and developing NDC 3.0, ensuring stronger alignment with the latest climate science, national priorities, and global best practices.

Specific Objectives

The project’s key objectives include:

  • Conducting a comprehensive review and update of Sierra Leone’s NDC, from version 2.0 to 3.0;

  • Providing technical analysis to inform science-based mitigation and adaptation targets;

  • Developing a strategy to mobilise climate finance, identifying key gaps and opportunities to achieve the targets set under NDC 3.0;

  • Strengthening institutional capacity and promoting stakeholder engagement to ensure long-term, sustainable policy impact.

By combining technical expertise with a focus on climate governance and capacity building, NTU International is proud to support Sierra Leone’s efforts to advance its national climate agenda and fulfil its commitments under the Paris Agreement.
