NTU Supports Post-Crash Rescue Training to Strengthen Emergency Response in Ethiopia
Road traffic accidents remain a major public health challenge in Ethiopia. Too often, lives are lost not only because of the crash itself, but because help does not arrive fast enough or responders lack the tools and training needed during the critical “golden hour.”
From 17–20 February 2026, a Post-Crash Rescue Training was delivered in Adama, bringing together police officers, health professionals and emergency responders. Over several days, participants strengthened both their knowledge and hands-on skills—from scene safety and victim stabilisation to safe extrication techniques and coordination with emergency medical services.
Through practical exercises and real-life scenarios, the training focused on what matters most: equipping first responders with the confidence and skills to act quickly and effectively when every second counts.
Initiatives like this help strengthen Ethiopia’s post-crash care system and contribute to safer roads and stronger emergency response capacities.
