NTU International Hosts Cybersecurity Workshops in Tajikistan
NTU International A/S organised Workshops on Cybersecurity Strengthening in Tajikistan’s Energy Sector.
As part of ongoing efforts to enhance cybersecurity and resilience in Tajikistan’s energy sector, a series of targeted workshops was held in Dushanbe on April 7–9. The events brought together key national energy companies, including Shabakai Intikoli Bark OJSC, Shabakai Taksimoti Bark OJSC, and Barki Tojik OJSC. The workshops were also attended by the representatives of the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources of Tajikistan.
The initiative supports the strategic objective of the Ministry of Energy to establish a sector-wide Security Operations Center (SOC) and a Computer Security Incident Response Team (CSIRT). The proposed framework also considers the introduction of an outsourcing model and the development of sustainable financing mechanisms to ensure long-term operational effectiveness.
The workshops were organized within the framework of the European Union’s Technical Assistance Package under the Sustainable Energy Support Program in Tajikistan. They built upon previous consultations with the Ministry and aimed to ensure alignment among all key stakeholders on the proposed technical, operational, and financial structure of the SOC/CSIRT system.
During the sessions, participants discussed key aspects of cybersecurity coordination in the energy sector, including governance arrangements, implementation phases, and funding approaches. The workshops also provided a platform for open dialogue, enabling stakeholders to share perspectives and contribute to shaping a unified approach to strengthening sector-wide cybersecurity.
The outcomes of the workshops include increased awareness of cybersecurity challenges, improved stakeholder coordination, and initial agreement on the implementation pathway for establishing the SOC/CSIRT framework in Tajikistan’s power sector.
