NTU International A/S has been awarded the Greenland: National Energy Sector Plan Assignment
𝗡𝗧𝗨 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗔/𝗦 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗮𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗚𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱: 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗘𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁
This assignment, under SEA Lot 1, will support the Government of Greenland in developing a robust analytical basis for prioritising Renewable Energy investments and advancing the country's green energy transition. The project forms part of the EU-Greenland Green Growth Programme (2024-2027) and will contribute to Greenland's long-term objectives of energy security, electrification, green transition, and sustainable growth.
The assignment will focus on:
• Mapping existing energy systems, renewable energy potential, and development pathways across Greenland's cities and settlements
• Assessing renewable and hybrid energy solutions, including hydropower, solar PV, wind energy, battery storage, and integrated system configurations
• Conducting socioeconomic assessments of renewable energy investments, including costs, security of supply, climate benefits, and long-term system impacts
• Developing a transparent national prioritisation model for renewable energy investments
• Supporting strategic planning, investment decision-making, and implementation of Greenland's green transition
• Strengthening the analytical foundation for the implementation of Greenland's National Energy Sector Plan
The project will deliver a nationwide renewable energy investment and prioritisation plan, providing decision-makers with a clear framework for directing future investments where they generate the greatest socioeconomic value and contribution to energy security.
This assignment further strengthens NTU International's experience in energy sector planning, renewable energy development, strategic investment prioritisation, and support for sustainable energy transitions in Arctic and remote environments.
Also, the assignment aligns with the EU’s broader strategic ambitions for the Arctic, supporting a greener, more resilient and prosperous Arctic through clean-energy development, electrification and reduced dependence on imported fossil fuels.
