NTU International A/S Advances EU–Brazil Critical Raw Materials Cooperation through Strategic Analysis and High-Level Engagement

NTU International continues to advance the implementation of the EU–Brazil critical raw materials (CRM) Support Project, funded by the European Union under the Global gateway Initiative. As part of the project’s ongoing activities, NTU is providing structured analytical support and fostering high-level dialogue to strengthen sustainable CRM cooperation between the EU and Brazil, in line with the EU–Brazil Strategic Partnership and the EU Critical Raw Materials Act.

Throughout the reporting period, NTU completed the mapping and analysis of Brazilian Critical Minerals (BCM) and Brazilian Transition Minerals (BTM) projects, including lithium, nickel, copper, and other battery metals, with the objective of identifying strategic investment opportunities and supply chain synergies.

Stakeholder engagement remained a central pillar of the project. NTU played a leading role at Exposibram 2025 – Brazilian Mining Expo & Congress, held in October 2025 in Salvador, Bahia, which served as a flagship platform for EU–Brazil engagement on critical raw materials. Within this framework, NTU supported the organisation of EU–Brazil day, featuring CRM fund presentations, project pitching sessions, thematic roundtables, bilateral meetings, and networking activities.

The event programme included dedicated roundtables on the REE Value Chain, bringing together 47 participants to discuss joint strategies, investment opportunities, responsible mining practices, and sustainable supply chains, as well as on Low-Carbon Steel, with 46 participants exploring pathways for investment, technology transfer, and decarbonisation solutions. Pitching sessions enabled Brazilian CRM projects to be presented directly to European financiers and industrial partners, while networking activities - including a cocktail reception and bilateral business meetings - further strengthened connections between stakeholders.

In addition, NTU facilitated bilateral meetings with key institutions, including the Brazillian Ministry of mines and energy (MME) and the Brazilian Mining Association (IBRAM). The project also successfully integrated the EU Raw Materials Policy Panel into the Brazilian Mining Congress. The European Union Perspective was presented by Ms. Madalina Ivanica, Deputy Head of DG-GROW, highlighting the provisions of the EU Critical Raw Materials Act and opportunities for strategic EU–Brazil cooperation.

Through these analytical, advisory, and engagement activities, NTU International continues to support the EU’s Global Gateway objectives by promoting resilient, sustainable, and mutually beneficial partnerships in the critical raw materials sector.
