NTU awarded “EU-Kiribati Partnership for Resilience Building” project under FWC SEA 2023 Lot 6: Macro-Economic Analysis, Fiscal Policies, Budget Support.

NTU International A/S is proud to announce a new 30-month assignment aimed at enhancing the capacity of Kiribati’s Ministry of Finance and Economic Development, the Kiribati Tax Department (KTD), and the Kiribati Audit Office (KAO). With a budget of €760,000, his initiative will help strengthen governance, improve tax administration, and support effective resource management for the country’s sustainable development.

Specific Objectives:

  1. Support the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development in formulating, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating actions under the 11th EDF National Indicative Programme (NIP), NDICI – Global Europe, and other EU funds.
  2. Improve tax administration in Kiribati by modernizing legislation and providing hands-on support and training to KTD staff.
  3. Enhance KAO’s capacity to perform audits in line with International Standards for Supreme Audit Institutions (ISSAIs), ensuring:
    • Strengthened independence of KAO
    • Effective functioning of compliance audits
    • Improved integrity standards
    • Enhanced quality of Financial Statements of Government audits
