EU Delegation Joins Tajikistan's International Green Diplomacy Conference
The Delegation of the European Union to Tajikistan participated in the II International Scientific and Practical Conference on Sustainable Development and Green Diplomacy.
The Delegation took part in the conference “The Contribution of the Republic of Tajikistan to the Implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals and Green Diplomacy,” held on April 16, 2026, in Dushanbe as part of the International Forum “Partnership for Sustainable Development: Green. Digital. Smart.”
The conference was organized by the International University of Tourism and Entrepreneurship of Tajikistan in cooperation with the EU-funded project “Technical Assistance Package for the Sustainable Energy Support Programme in Tajikistan.” Held in a hybrid format at the Hyatt Regency, it brought together representatives of government, the diplomatic corps, international organizations, and leading experts.
The event reflects Tajikistan’s growing role in the global sustainable development agenda, including initiatives in water diplomacy, glacier protection, and climate policy recognized at the UN level.During the opening, Ms. Isabel Uriz Hernandez, Head of Cooperation of the EU Delegation, highlighted the importance of international partnership in achieving the SDGs.
At the plenary session, Vladimir Usievich, Team Leader and Sustainable Energy Expert, presented on energy efficiency as a key development priority. Anton Arkhipov, EU project expert, addressed trends in green energy and its role in sustainable growth. Key topics included green energy development, energy efficiency, green diplomacy, climate adaptation, and integrating green economy principles into socio-economic development.
The conference will result in recommendations and a publication of scientific materials. The EU’s participation underscored the importance of international cooperation in advancing the green agenda, digitalisation, and sustainable development.
