Advancing the EU Global Gateway Agenda: NTU International Completes Field Missions Across the Northern Corridor

NTU International A/S plays a crucial role in supporting Global Gateway ambitions of Team Europe by strengthening Regional Connectivity, Trade Competitiveness and Sustainable Growth across East and Central Africa.

Our team has recently completed two extensive field missions across all six Northern Corridor Member States and key Regional Economic Communities. These missions enabled in-depth consultations with national authorities, transport agencies, private-sector stakeholders, and corridor institutions, as well as direct appraisal of key infrastructure, logistical systems, border posts, ports, rail links, pipelines and trade facilitation mechanisms.

With this critical consultation phase concluded, our experts have entered the drafting stage of the three core deliverables:

• Updated Northern Corridor Infrastructure Master Plan (2024–2044) – assessing infrastructure conditions, identifying bottlenecks and missing links, and outlining a strategic investment pathway for an integrated, smart, efficient and climate-resilient corridor.
• Analytical Comparative Transport Cost Study – establishing a robust baseline of logistics costs, transport performance and delays across the multimodal chain, and benchmarking these against other regional and global corridors.
• Project Investment Prospectuses for two priority infrastructure projects – preparing bankability-oriented documentation to advance financing, investment mobilisation and implementation readiness.

This EU-funded assignment supports the development of a smarter, more efficient, sustainable and multimodal Northern Corridor linking Burundi, DRC, Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan and Uganda.

We look forward to sharing the next milestones as the drafting phase advances.
