On the 23rd and 24th of February, NTU has organized the 1st Validation Committee Meeting of the EU financed project Implementation to the Support to the Transport Sector Development Programme. (EuropeAid/135595/IH/SER/Multi) in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Within the Transport Sector Development Programme, NTU is implementing Lot 1: Support to the African Union Commission and PIDA PAP and Lot 2: Editing and publishing of comprehensive transport sector guidelines. The event was organized by the project team under the auspices of African Union Commission (AUC). Apart from representatives from NTU, AUC and EU Delegation to the AU, main stakeholders from African Transport sector participated in the meeting, such as: representatives from Africa’s Economic and Trade Unions (COMESA, ECOWAS, IGAD, CEMAC, UMA, UAR), representatives from specialized Institutions such as NEPAD Planning and Coordinating Agency, from African Civil Aviation Commission, from the African Association of Public Transport representatives from Transport Corridor Bodies The Agenda meeting targeted the project implementation and outputs, thus the following elements were discussed: 1. Presentation of the Transport Sector Development Programme 2. Consideration of the Transport White Paper 3. Consideration of the Smart Corridor Design 4. Consideration of the Comprehensive Guidelines for Sustainable Transport
