NTU has been awarded an ADB TA Road Safety project in Pakistan

NTU has been awarded the ADB-funded project: "Technical Assistance for Road Safety in Pakistan" under the programme TA 8990-PAK: Enabling Economic Corridors through Sustainable Transport Sector Development

NTU team will support Pakistan to further improve the safety of its road network through a holistic set of measures addressing:

  • road safety management systems,
  • road user behavior,
  • infrastructure improvements,
  • vehicle improvements, and
  • post-crash response.

An interministerial body will be set up to coordinate various activities to improve road safety. The body will be supported in the development of a national road safety action plan, informed by a crash database. Awareness raising campaigns and training of enforcement officials will be conducted. Road standards for all classes of roads will be reviewed from a road safety angle, and revised standards will be piloted in at least 3 locations. National guidelines on vehicle and driver licenses, as well as post-crash response, will also be drafted.

The project started on 25th of August and the period of implementation of the contract will be 42-months. The Kick-Off meeting will be held in the upcoming weeks.

The project budget is 3.184,830 USD.
