NTU International A/S is proud to announce the “Diversity Mainstreaming in The Maritime Sector” project, with a 12-month duration.

The general objective of this advisory assignment is to support the Agency’s efforts to:

  • Identify and address the gaps from a diversity and inclusion lens and in relation to employment in the Agency for Maritime and Coastal Services (the Port of Antwerp-Bruges and North Sea Port).
  • Propose concrete actions to improve diversity and inclusion of staff which are tailored to the maritime sector characteristics to improve the attractiveness of the sector to a wider pool of talent;
  • Review the Agency’s investment plans to make their projects more socially inclusive;
  • Propose specific measures that help enhancing the wellbeing of all staff, including with a diversity and inclusion lens as a mean to increase the sense of belonging and the retention rate in the sector, considering the results of previous and ongoing studies (incl. surveys) of the Agency and Port of Antwerp-Bruges in this domain;
  • Develop an all-encompassing and multifaceted Investment Manual for Diversity and Inclusion for the Agency, based on the above findings, and assess diversity risks in the different components of the maritime sector (maritime management, port infrastructure, ships, etc.);
  • Compile the lessons learned from this assignment (drawing mostly on the Investment Manual) in a practical guidance document for application/replication by other (potential) promoters preparing and implementing investment projects in the maritime sector. This guidance document will also be useful to EIB when appraising investment projects in the waterborne transport sector;
  • Develop an appropriate communication strategy, plan and material

The specific areas of the advisory assignment would be (but not limited to): Nautical management, piloting, seafarers, coastal management and protection, coast guard activities, maritime transport, fleet operations and port infrastructure.

Together, we’re shaping a more diverse and inclusive maritime industry.
