NTU, as consortium lead, has been shortlisted for the project "Technical Assistance for the improvement of road safety standards in Albania" EuropeAid/136323/IH/SER/AL The overall objective of this project is to contribute to the establishment of a road safety system in Albania compliant with EU standards. Specific objectives: Meet EU Directive objectives for commercial vehicle inspection, and prepare Albanian legislation for roadside enforcement and implementation readiness. Prepare technical specifications regarding equipment to be supplied and installed, training for use and maintenance related to roadside checks. Establish an effective traffic speed management system, incorporating effective enforcement, and supported by engineering measures, Blackspot treatment schemes and awareness campaigns. Grow technical capability for accident analysis and developing road safety engineering solutions and designing and construction according to international standards. Refine the road safety countermeasure development and selection function, for improved detail designs, cost estimates, benefit calculation and implementation management for effective accident reduction. Prepare for launch road safety awareness and public education campaigns, for accident and injury reduction, and growing best road user behaviour. Duration: 24 months Budget: EUR 1 300 000
