Launch of EU-ASEAN Sustainable Connectivity Package - Seafarers
On the 11th of November 2024, NTU supported the organisation of the launch of the EU-funded EU-ASEAN Sustainable Connectivity Package (SCOPE) - Seafarers - Technical Assistance.
The project - running from September 2024 until November 2027, with a total budget of 3.8M EUR will support the implementation of international maritime safety and labor standards, as well as the quality of maritime institutions in the Philippines with a complementary component for Indonesia and ASEAN.
The launch event was attended by the Philippine Department of Transportation Secretary Jaime J. Bautista, H.E. Massimo Santoro, EU Ambassador to the Philippines, Ms. Fotini Ioannidou, Director for Waterborne Transport at the European Union’s headquarters and other key national stakeholders involved in this initiative.
At the meeting, NTU International provided an overview of the project’s key objectives, components, and critical success factors that will drive its successful implementation over the next three years.


The EU-ASEAN SCOPE Seafarers - Technical Assistance is part of the larger Global Gateway initiative, the European strategy engaging with partners globally and promoting investments around shared priorities such as transition to a green economy, renewable energy and green hydrogen, education and research, and digital infrastructure, among others.
The SCOPE Seafarers Technical Assistance project is implemented by a consortium led by NTU International A/S, in partnership with the World Maritime University, Ernst & Young, and Fondazione Accademia Italiana della Marina Mercantile.
