The overall objectives of the programme are to sustain Ghana’s mining sector’s economic performance, to alleviate poverty by increasing employment and to mitigate the mines’ negative environmental impacts. The specific purpose is to enhance institutional capacities to effectively promote and regulate the mineral resources sector in order to reverse the current trend of reduced private-sector mineral exploration, while facilitating the development of sustainable medium-term projects.
